How difficult is the Sete Cidades walk?

The route is easy and mostly downhill, making it a comfortable choice for most travelers who want an active day without a demanding hike. It covers 7.7 km along the caldera edge before reaching the village of Sete Cidades.

What will I see along the way?

You start at Vista do Rei viewpoint, with views over Caldeira Seca and the Sete Cidades lakes. The trail also opens toward the western coast of São Miguel, so the scenery changes as you walk.

Is kayaking included in the experience?

Kayaking (about 1 hour on the lake) is part of the full-day option, not the half-day walk. It adds a different way to experience Sete Cidades after the trail.

Where is the meeting point?

The meeting point is Mercado CORES at Largo Vasco Bensaúde No. 39 in Ponta Delgada at 09:30 AM. Pickup and drop-off in Ponta Delgada city center are included, and other locations can be requested.
