How difficult is this Santa Maria hiking trail?

It is best suited to people with a reasonable level of fitness. The route includes climbing, downhill sections, and uneven ground, so if you can power walk for around 30 minutes, you should be fine.

How long does the activity take?

The usual schedule runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, so you should plan for a half-day outing. Exact timing can vary, and if you have a scheduling issue, you should mention it in the Notes field when booking.

Yes, pickup and drop-off are included within Vila do Porto. If you are staying outside Vila do Porto, you should add that in the reservation notes so it can be arranged separately.

What will I see on the trail?

You will pass through protected forest, see Japanese cedar and native Azores plants, and stop at viewpoints over the caldera, west coast, and the island around Pico Alto.

Is this suitable for children?

Children under 18 can join only with a parent or guardian. Children under 6 are free on day activities, and children under 9 receive a 50% discount on activity packages, except overnight shelter trips.

What should I bring with me?

Bring sunscreen and sunglasses, a hat, a raincoat, and walking shoes or sneakers with a non-slip sole. The trail includes outdoor terrain, so comfortable footwear matters.
